Don't Slam the Door!

Actually these were golden words coming out of my Mother's mouth....it meant she was baking  another delicious cake for her family of 4......   My sister and I and my father.

She was warning us that the cake would drop!

My sweet Mother happened to be a superb cook but I don't know how she managed to aborb all these recipes.  My parents married when my mother was very young and there wasn't even radio yet...my grandmother made raised yeast cakes that she learned from 'the old country' which would be Hungary.   She was only 13 when she came to this country.

My mother did own a Betty Crocker Cookbook..so is this where she learned.   I was 15 when I lost my mom and I never did ask questions about her cooking.    I just took it all for granted.

I can still salivate when I remember the taste of her lemon meringue pie--my favorite.

But I didn't love my Mother for her cooking.    I adored her because she was the nicest, sweetest person in the world who loved me unconditionally....until I met Allen, many years later.

Mom...I still miss your so much.   I hope there is a Heaven, because that's where you are.
