A time for Introspection !

Jewish people all over the world celebrate these High Holidays, Our Days of Awe, and we seriously

try to correct our bad habits that we've developed over the years, and try to discipline ourselves into becoming better human beings.

So...I'm thinking !    I'm considered an old lady now, although somehow they've changed the pattern and this age is considered about 10 years younger.   I haven't discussed this with an actuary, so I don't know how accurate this is.

I'm trying to figure out what I've accomplished in my life...or if I've rubbed off on anyone to make a difference in their life.    And the answer is plain and simple.....NOT REALLY.

I went to a funeral the other day and one of the mourners stood up and spoke...and it appears that the main things in this man's life was he loved to gamble...and he liked soup....but according to his kids, this  made him a great man.

Would Nixon be considered a superior human being, although he had that one big blemish on his record.

Could be that we're all flawed and that's what makes us human!

I think maybe we're important only to ourselves and we're all held accountable for every deed.

So...I'll just live with  those thoughts...and  maybe try a little harder.

How can you say you haven't rubbed off on anyone to make a difference in their life. You raised a wonderful son. I know I wouldn't be doing what I am doing now without him and I know I have had an effect on others - remember the kids that were adopted because of my web pages. Without Jeff in my life I wouldn't be doing those pages.

You had a toy store - did you sell erector sets and chemistry sets? Can you say not one child who had an erector set or chemistry set from your store did not become an engineer or chemist or a doctor.

Then there is Paul and his family - you have a great affect on them too.

Oh Donna dear...I took to heart your endearing comments and your words made me feel much better about my life. Thank you so much...and thank you for being Jeff's wife. You've made each other so happy..and you were created for one another.

And how can you say that you didn't rub off on me? Where do you think I learned to be kind? From you and dad. You taught me to consider other people's feelings. You taught me to be good in school. You taught me so much. Speaking of which, what about the kids you've taught? Don't you think they've gone home and told their parents about the day they had from you?

So, please don't believe you haven't made a difference to anyone!

Oh Jeff darling...you have no idea at all what your words meant to me.

I'll cherish them always.

Oh my, how can you say you have not accomplished anything? You are a truly giving person, You make everyone feel better about themselves and guilty for not being as caregiving as you are. Don't you dare ever say you have not accomplished anything..So many of your friends I know would share
these thoughts..I am lucky for having met you in my life.

nothing wrong with getting the tributes when you are able to read them....like my mom always said...i want flowers now, not when i'm gone!

here are your flowers:

want to know how you have "rubbed off" on me?? like gold flakes left on rusty metal when they are rubbed together....that's how!

you are the gentlest of spirits, you have become my mother, my mentor, my stabilizer, you take me to task for my rigid thoughts, you have softened my heart and given me reason to understand more about life than i ever learned on my own....

you are generous to a fault, the best friend anyone could ever have, whether they appreciated it or not

we are all flawed, some more than others....in the years i have known you, the only flaw i have ever seen, is your ability to be sensitive to everything and everyone without judging and trusting the good in people, always

flaws???? i think not!

Dear Cousin:

It was good talking with you just now and I posted a comment but don't know what happened to it. I wrote what I spoke to you about — that you were inspirational in helping me starting my blog and your blog is both well written and it comes from your heart.

Lovingly...Harvey

Thanks Harvey,

Now the beautiful prose that you captured is what I consider perfect writing.

here’s the way we followed through and celebrated the New Year last week.
